Bulk Liquid Tote Liners are now available from Grayling Industries

Bulk Liquid Tote Liners are now available from Grayling Industries

Grayling has Introduced the Guardian™ cassetted form fit liners designed to work with any corrugated IBC tote on the market

A corrugated bulk liquid IBC tote is essentially comprised of two components, the outer box or sleeve and the inner liner. The liner is arguably the most critical component of the package as it is the only packaging material that actually comes into direct contact with the product and is what protects the product from contamination or spoilage during shipping and storage.

The Guardian™ liners are "form fit" to match the interior dimensions of the corrugated shipping and storage containers. The "form fitting" of the liner to the tote eliminates folds and creases in the liner that can trap product and lead to a "short" filling of the container and/or excessive residual waste after dispensing.

The Guardian™ liners from Grayling are pre-attached to a cassette which helps to properly align the liner in the container prior to filling and reduces the need for an attendant to adjust the liner during the filling process.

Grayling stocks cassetted form fit liners for most of the popular brands and sizes of one-way corrugated totes for shipping and handling bulk liquid products.

Grayling Industries opens a new warehouse and office facility in El Paso, Texas.

Grayling announces the opening of a new distribution facility conveniently located near the airport and major freight terminals on the east side of the city.

Per Mr. Carlos Rubio, Director of Finance and Plant Operations for Grayling, "We have outgrown the public warehouse resources that we had been utilizing for the last several years". The new facility is located on the bustling east side of El Paso, just blocks from the major interstate that runs through the city and close to the major freight terminals.

Mr. Rubio adds, "We will still warehouse a significant amount of raw materials in the plant across the border and we will also continue to inventory finished goods in Atlanta, Georgia and Nijmegan, Holland, but this new facility will allow us to better serve our customers while providing more flexibility and reducing operating costs at the same time".

An interview with Mr. Kurt Ross, President of Grayling Industries, Inc.

An interview with Mr. Kurt Ross, President of Grayling Industries, Inc.

Kurt is the president and founder of the company. He is originally from St. Louis, Missouri and now resides in El Paso, Texas with his wife of 20 years; Judith Gaskin. Judith is a writer, a PTSA board member and the administrator of the Cornudas Mountain Foundation, a non-profit arts organization. Their children; Max, an avid lawn and table tennis athlete, is 18 and headed off to college this fall. Mary, an accomplished pianist and track athlete, is 16 years old, and a rising high school Junior.

Kurt, tell us how Grayling came to be:

In the early '80s I was traveling the USA, seeing the country from Alaska to Florida and working at various occupations along the way to finance my travels. One of my adventures was as a polyethylene bag salesman in Atlanta working with my cousin, Gerry. Through that experience, I was exposed to the emerging asbestos abatement market and an opportunity presented itself. From an early age I knew that I wanted to create and lead a business and the rapidly growing asbestos removal industry provided that opportunity.

I recognized that there was an opportunity for improvements in the design, manufacture and delivery of a tool used for the removal of asbestos insulation from pipes: the glovebag. So, I gathered together a few of my friends, designed and had fabricated some custom heat sealing equipment, applied for various patents related to the unique construction of our Avail product design and began making glovebags. That was in 1986.

Today, the glovebag product that we manufacture is recognized as the market leader worldwide in the asbestos removal industry.

Through the years, we leveraged our experience in producing critical containment products to expand into the industrial packaging business. In1990 we began manufacturing form fit liners for flexible intermediate bulk containers, or bulk bags. Since then our manufacturing business has grown to include liners for all types of intermediate bulk containers, including bulk liquid containers, boxes, totes and drums. We also now distribute IBCs and FIBC containers to provide processors with a complete packaging solution.

After 25 years in business, with no debt and a steady history of growth, Grayling would be considered a success by most all measures. What do you consider the secret to your success?

The secret is simple yet difficult to achieve: Our success is due to a talented and capable group of people who are focused on common objectives and who work very hard to earn the confidence and trust of each other, our customers and our vendors.

What do you enjoy most about working at Grayling?

I most enjoy participating in the development of our people, our culture and our products.

What do you do when you're not working?

I very much enjoy spending time with my family and participating in various recreational sporting activities. I also enjoy cooking, gardening and entertaining friends and relatives in our home.

The intent of the program is to provide time for reflection and rejuvenation after putting in 5 years of focused, hard work for the company.
